Zoo Animal
The solo moniker of Minneapolis producer/songwriter Holly Hansen, Zoo Animal is a small collection of introspective acoustic songs with a gorgeously refined indie aesthetic. This is our second placement for Holly, following one in 2021 with yet another side project called Body Dork in Vice’s “The Source”. Catch Zoo Animal’s song “Soon” in episode 515, airing on February 7th.
Big Mother Gig
Big Mother GigOriginally founded in Milwaukee and currently based in Los Angeles, Big Mother Gig is an indie rock band formed by Richard Jankovich. Their sound matches huge pop hooks with equally massive guitar sounds, crafting flavorful indie, vividly real and melodic songs with a knack for raw story-telling. Their song “The Underdog” appeared in episode 511, premiered on January 10th.
“The Rookie” on ABC
A crime drama television series that follows John Nolan, a man in his forties, who becomes the oldest rookie at the LAPD. After a life-changing experience, Nolan decides to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer. He must navigate the challenges of being a rookie cop, while also dealing with the difficulties that come with being older than his fellow officers. Alongside Nolan, the show also follows the lives and careers of his colleagues, including his training officer and other officers at the LAPD.
