Although the production behind the upbeat electro-pop track is groove-worthy, the lyrics tell a different story. Drawing inspiration from artists like Fleetwood Mac, Phoebe Bridges and Shura, Runrummer has developed a vibrant and eclectic sound. Released this past Friday, “Not Quite Over You” appeared on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK and has been receiving great press coverage and airplay in the US and UK. Inspired by the famous Rum Runner Nightclub in the 70s and 80s which launched the careers of Duran Duran and Dexys Midnight Runners, East London-based singer-songwriter and producer Livi Morris took on the inverted moniker Runrummer. Inspired by a butterfly observed on a trip to Costa Rica, Katmaz wrote the stripped down and intimate song “Blue Morpho”. Known for being unattainable by predators due to its unique flying patterns after being intoxicated with rotten fruit, the blue morpho lives in a state of unpredictability. Although content spending their life alone, the butterfly embarks on a life-long journey to find its mate. The song paints a metaphor with the animal’s erratic behavior and the elusive nature of a former lover. In 2020, native New Yorker and singer-songwriter Matt Kazmierczak embarked on a life-changing journey of self-exploration that took him to twenty national parks across the US. The three-month journey eventually led him to create his debut album ‘Tell Me How Great You Are’. Now that he’s gearing up for his second album release ‘Willoughby’ at the end of the year, Katmaz gives his listeners a glimpse of […]

We’re all probably feeling the “new year, new me” energy right about now, so Meresha’s upcoming single “Better” couldn’t come at a better time! This upbeat, glittery pop song is all about new love and feeling good about yourself. With maybe just a touch of shade to your haters. Gearing up for the release of her new album ‘(i think) i might be grown’, Mae Krell gives her fans a preview with the latest single “feeling too much”. Inspired by the emotions and revelations she and her girlfriend dealt with, the sentimental indie folk track is more than your typical love song. I have always been able to go on tour without worrying about my family and friends too much. I’ve built those relationships to be okay when I am away for a few weeks and not have anything change when I come back. This tour felt different because I truly just missed my girlfriend so much, and it was unusual for me that playing a show didn’t make that feeling of missing someone go away. It’s the first time that I really felt like I was risking losing someone to follow my dreams. Known for her exceptional lyricism, […]

Holy Roller Baby is starting the year off strong with an electrifying and bad-to-the-bone track filled with swagger and energy. “How To Love A Ticking Time Bomb” taps into the retro side of 70’s blues rock with fuzzy guitar riffs that will have your hair all in a mess from headbanging! Frontman Jared Mullins was inspired to write the track after witnessing a woman drowning in during a flood: I was driving in the country during a very bad thunderstorm–the kind you’re normally supposed to take cover for. I didn’t. I was dumb. I kept driving even as the water on the road piled up and eventually became too much for myself and a batch of equally arrogant drivers who thought they could weather any storm. Eventually the water levels rose so much it flooded my car as I came to an underpass. The bridge water was high and as […]

In Certainly So’s latest single “Patience”, the band explores the tumultuous ups and downs of a toxic relationship. Throughout the song there’s a sweet melody that carries listeners into a building crescendo filled with drums, guitar, soaring strings and swirling vocals. By the end it reaches an emotionally chaotic peak, while still remaining vulnerable. This song is the band’s first single of the year, the first of many leading up to the release of their new full length album later this Fall. Certainly So is an indie-rock quartet based in Nashville and made up of four long-time friends. Still fairly new to the industry as a band, they released their first full-length album in 2021 and haven’t looked back. Their music is exceptionally well written and produced, and of course very sync-friendly. We highly recommend you give them a listen!

Breakups are always tough, but moving on can be even more difficult. In Lola Violet’s latest single, “happy 4 u” she dives into the complexities of dealing with exes and the reality of a heartbreak. The dark electro pop track is supported with a pulsating bass line and makes listeners feel as if they’re stuck in a trance. Coupled with honest and raw lyrics, Lola Violet holds nothing back as she deals with the emotional complexities of a breakup. I wanted the song to really get those post-breakup feelings across—each note is like a piece of my own story. […] When I wrote ‘happy 4 u,’ I was digging into that messy post-breakup stuff, trying to turn it into a song that everyone could feel in their own way.
