Who doesn’t love a remix? Not like a boring dance remix, I mean the good kind. When thoughtfully created in collaboration with new voices, remixes can completely reinvent a song, adding depth and new meaning. Not shying away from the idea of reinterpreting her highly personal album, Laura Marano has just released “YOU (Deluxe)” featuring artists like Jean Deaux, Mark Diamond, and Alextbh. Most intimately, she invited the subject of her song “Run”, Thom Macken, to sing a duet and contribute a new verse.
“It was a really cool thing to collaborate with someone that I obviously feel so connected with and trust so much,” says Marano. “We reworked all the songs and made them all feel like me, and I feel like we definitely tell the same sonic story throughout the whole EP.”
A prolific songwriter and classically-trained musician, Laura Marano has earned more than 200 million streams across streaming platforms and maintains a loyal fanbase of 20 million followers across socials. Showing that there are always two sides to every story, as a response to her debut “ME” EP Laura released her follow-up “YOU” EP in 2020. This past week she expanded on that concept even further with the release of several collaborations, duets, and remixes of “YOU” EP originals, culminating in “YOU (Deluxe)” which just dropped on June 25th. The project has received love and praise from the likes of MTV, Billboard, NME, Ones To Watch, Apple Music, Tidal and more.
Laura is widely known for starring as singer/songwriter Ally Dawson in the Disney Channel international hit series “Austin & Ally,” for which she won Favorite TV Actress at the Kids’ Choice Awards. She also won Choice Comedy Movie Actress at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards for her role in the breakout Netflix romantic comedy, The Perfect Date. Marano starred in and produced the dramatic feature Saving Zoe, and was seen opposite Robert DeNiro and Uma Thurman in the family comedy, The War With Grandpa. Currently, she is finishing production on the Netflix feature film, The Royal Treatment, which Marano produced and starred alongside Aladdin star Mena Massoud. The movie is due for a 2022 release.
