The latest EP by British-American trio Raynes, entitled ‘Bloom,’ is a self described Chamber Pop record constructed around sophisticated string arrangements. Designed to evolve track by track, the seven-song cycle slowly expands into a lush, orchestral crescendo and mirrors the gradual awakening of spring. As a concept inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement for both its visual and thematic palette, ‘Bloom’ explores renewal, intimacy, and quiet transformation through floral metaphors and everyday moments. The closing track, “Say That You Want It,” brings the listener to atmospheric heights in cinematic style, swelling into a full-blown symphony that makes heartbreak sound almost triumphant.
Raynes was formed in 2017, when North Dakota natives Mat Charley and Joe Berger stumbled across a video of brilliant British singer Mark Race on Instagram and invited him to Los Angeles to start a band. The group has since signed with Sony Music Publishing, released multiple EPs and singles, and garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, Earmilk, People, and Atwood Magazine. Known for their intricate harmonies and eclectic influences, Raynes blends elements of chamber pop, folk and rock with Celtic sounds to achieve a cinematic style all their own. The duality of both an American and British singer also contributes to the band’s unique sound and musical range.
