Päter – “Four Walls”

If you’re hiding out indoors to escape the brutal summer heat, Päter’s latest single “Four Walls” will keep you company. Tacked piano, wacky background vocals and a strong driving beat a la Arcade Fire gives this song all the energy you need to keep yourself bouncing around your air conditioned bedroom. My reference for this track was the part in Willy Wonka where all the creepy dolls do a song and dance and then blow up. It’s about this age of bedroom content making that’s dressed up with so much promise but can in fact become quite isolating and maddening. Packaged in high octane indie rock delight. Päter – “WHEREFORE WEEP I THEN?”

The sophomore album from Canadian singer-songwriter Päter, ‘WHEREFORE WEEP I THEN?’ is a pure expression of their unique, eccentric indie pop style. The EP addresses struggles of love and all its accompanying anxieties; all delivered in a wry, subversive tone. Päter’s latest single, “FAN FAN FAN” is a quirky breakup song which approaches the sensitive topic with a welcome bit of levity: FAN FAN FAN was written from the point of unrequited love when you’ve cried every last tear, lost every last minute of sleep and things start to get a bit topsy turvy. There’s a deliriousness to it. I wrote this when I was feeling particularly stubborn about a relationship that wasn’t going my way. It let me release the tension around it and laugh at myself a bit. Päter – “Earth In Revolt”

Enter the Päterverse. An accomplished actor, writer, director and recording artist performing under the moniker Päter, Parmida Kakavand’s unique style of songwriting navigates themes like self-discovery and mental health with an irreverent, lighthearted touch.
