Multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter and producer Lera Lynn pays tribute to her journey behind motherhood in her latest single, “I’m Your Kamikaze”.  Welcoming her first son during the early months of the pandemic, this song marked a new era of shifting priorities, strange endings, and new beginnings. Inside Lera was battling postpartum depression. Outside, a bigger picture began taking shape: a feeling of interconnectedness, of cyclic renewal, of the knowledge that every beginning is an end and every end is a beginning. I got my musical start in the indie rock scene of Athens Ga. “Kamikaze” pays sonic homage to that beginning while illustrating the whiplash effect of early parenthood. It’s a continuation of the theme from “Something More Than Love;” that you are no longer your own; that you will now bow to the forces of nature and run yourself into the ground so that your child might thrive. –     Lera Lynn Co-produced […]

The album was produced by Grammy winner Dave O’Donnell and features musical heavyweights Charley Drayton, Aaron Comess, Andy Hess, Marc Copely, Kareem Devlin and Jeff Cohen. This album is called “Good Day” not because it’s the theme but because it’s what I wanted most fervently these songs to give me when I listened to them, and thus also my audience: a good day, or at least a good mood for 3, 6, 9, 50 minutes. As it says in the title song, it’s been a long, long year, so let’s dance, let’s sing. –     Danielia Cotton Following in the footsteps of the singing matriarchs of her family, Cotton is creating a space for her own style and sound. The mysterious Florida duo known as King Complex have built a reputation for their masked stage performances (not for hygienic reasons) and their ability to effortlessly morph into a completely different band from song to song. In recent years their sound has evolved into what is now a very lush and somewhat psychedelic sound, with a bit of a Pet Sounds on mushrooms feel to it. Their new single “If There’s Beauty” perfectly alludes to the vibe of the record, filled with angelic vocals, retro reverb and lush strings. Coming off the success of their (very different) record “Dark Disco”, which racked up over a million streams on Spotify, the duo decided to pivot in a different direction to showcase their songwriting and production chops. In the efforts to explore the acoustic side of music, the duo cranked out the keys and vocals for this track in just thirty minutes before committing to a final […]
