Certainly So – “Lucid”

Sometimes the saying, “everything happens for a reason” helps us justify the confusion that we all experience in life. In Certainly So’s latest single, “Lucid”, the band explores this introspective concept. Driven by Tanner Gray’s bittersweet vocals and a gorgeous string arrangement, the song slowly builds in an acoustic 6/8 feel reminiscent of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You” until it hits the final third where it explodes into a driving rock finale. Hailing from Birmingham and Nashville, this self described “post-angst” band was formed in 2010 by the joining of longtime friends who have been collectively refining their classic inspired indie rock sound for the past decade.

EMM – “Kool Aid”

EMM’s latest single, “Kool Aid” encourages listeners to let go of all inhibitions, knock back whatever helps ease the pain and dance the night away. The energetic synth pop track features EMM’s signature powerhouse vocals over a bouncy 80’s retro beat and pulsating synths. This uptempo party driven track is a decidedly different musical direction for EMM, who typically writes darker epic Alt. Pop anthems. Ever constant is her attention to detail when it comes to syncability, something she does masterfully across her whole catalog. Goodvibes Sound – “Maybe I’ll Try”

Moving on from a heartbreak is never easy, especially when you’re miles away in a new city. The new track “Maybe I’ll Try”, London duo Goodvibes Sound explores these themes in a slow psychedelic, 70s soft-rock-inspired groove that’s reminiscent of a California dream. Goodvibes Sound have developed their signature sound over the past three years as they write, produce and mix all their own material. Known for their 70’s-inspired psychedelic sound and laid back jams like their summer masterpiece “Beachside Living”, the duo’s fanbase is quickly growing as they have garnered millions of streams worldwide.

Curvelo James – “Bye Ven”

Just before we come to the end of the summer, Curvelo James drops this Latin R&B jam, “Bye Ven” that’s all about those summer flings! Inspired by the rising sound of “El Flow Melancoleto”, this track’s smooth and melodic groove might just have you swirling in your feelings. The concept that our moods can alter the perception of time runs throughout the track, when we’re with our summer sweetheart things move fast like a vacation. Curvelo James is a music producer, artist and co-founder of the independent label “FLOWKILLAS” based in Barranquilla, Colombia. Being one of the most notable independent labels in the city, Curvelo has been a leader in bringing the independent music industry to the community and uplifting talent.

Pulling from memories of a childhood celebrity crush, in Mom Rock’s latest single “Close Your Eyes” is all about realizing that some fantasies are just not meant to be. This is the second single off the band’s forthcoming album, ‘Now That’s What I Call Mom Rock’ which was produced by Sean O’Keefe (Fall Out Boy, Plain White T’s, Beach Bunny). You see someone from afar and fall in love. Without knowing who this person really is, you dream up a whole future together. This kid essentially obsesses over a popstar, meets her, and she’s like, ‘You’re a kid. I’m not in love with you. That would be weird.’ We’d been covering ‘Teenage Dirtbag,’ and it’s the reverse sentiment. It’s a ‘sad in love’ song. If you’re hiding out indoors to escape the brutal summer heat, Päter’s latest single “Four Walls” will keep you company. Tacked piano, wacky background vocals and a strong driving beat a la Arcade Fire gives this song all the energy you need to keep yourself bouncing around your air conditioned bedroom. Shannon Clark & The Sugar – “This Old World”

“This Old World”, the title single from the upcoming album by Shannon Clark & the Sugar, touches on themes of modern American life which sets a tone for the record. Discussing tough issues from mass shootings to gender identity, the song paints a somber, yet hopeful picture of our country. Set for a fall release, the album more broadly focuses on ever-changing faith, belonging and authenticity we experience throughout life. This four piece family band hails from Greenville, Ohio and has developed their signature sound of soulful midwestern Americana over the years.
